*******Please Note that the consultation due to take place on the 15th September at the Millenium Hall has been cancelled******

re is a The consultation due to take place on the 15th of September has been cancelled because evidently there have been offers of plots from several landowners (who we don't know yet). Because of this Suffolk County Council have decided to put the consultations on hold while they evaluate the offers from the landowners. We expect to be notified as and when the consultation will be rescheduled if the Kentford Little Chef site or a location that may impact Kentford is still under consideration. So watch this space. As more information becomes available it will be posted here.

Have your say on proposed Gypsy and Traveller Short Stay Stopping Sites in Suffolk

In Suffolk, from 2007-2013 there were 210 unauthorised Gypsy and Traveller encampments, with an average of 19 days length of stay over. Suffolk needs a long-term solution to this.

Based on an evaluation of unauthorised encampments in Suffolk, it is proposed to introduce three short stay stopping sites in the county.

Seven potential Gypsy and Traveller short stay sites have been identified, details of the proposals are available on pages 8 to 11 of the consultation booklet.

Each potential short stay stopping site has been assessed against criteria. Appendix A shows the criteria and scoring for each potential short stay stopping site.

Once the consultation closes, all views will be analysed and used to help inform the three short stay stopping site recommendations that will be put forward to Suffolk County Council’s Cabinet in October 2014.

If approved by Cabinet, the three proposed short stay stopping sites would be subject to planning applications, which would include further consultation.
