The Kennett Community Land Trust (KCLT) was set up on 27 Feb 16 following a unanimous vote to form it at a Public Meeting. A Shadow Board of Trustees was established and it has formed its legal entity as a Registered Society under the Cooperative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. The Trustees conducted a Housing and Employment Survey during the summer of 2016 and at the same time encouraged membership across the Parish. It held its inaugural meeting of the full membership on 28 September 2016.
In the autumn of 2017, the the KCLT voted on a resolution "To offer the support of the KCLT for the proposed development of 500 dwellings opposite the school". 80% of the membership voted and the resolution was accepted with 75 votes for and 33 against.
